The mission of Our House, a Washtenaw County nonprofit, is to help young people (age 14-25) successfully transition from foster care to adulthood. Our vision is that they become successful, self-sufficient and can live independently with confidence.
Serenity Living Transitional Home (SLTH) is a 501c3 non-profit organization located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that provides youth and family services to at-risk residence in poverty-stricken communities. SLTH also offers young women between the ages of 18 and 23 with a safe place to live and learn. Qualifying youth will reside in Allegheny County and must be at risk for homelessness or out-of-home placement. Youth experiencing truancy or having involvement with a DHS child-serving system, will also be considered.
Many young adults who transition from foster care to adult life on their own experience difficulties. We make sure those new adults are ready for managing their education or employment, and that they can achieve their goals of self-sufficiency.
Through Life Launch, we are investing in the lives of at-risk young people. Our staff and volunteers support youth “wherever they are” and encourage them on their journey to independence and self-sufficiency.
The Texas Youth Permanency Study calls into question the premise that legal permanency is necessarily sufficient – and offers an alternative model for success. Anyone who has a formal or informal role in a young person’s life, including teachers, caseworkers, therapists and foster parents, can provide the authentic relationships youth need to succeed after leaving foster care.
Burke Center TLP homes are a residential program for young men from across the state of Texas who have aged out of foster care but are not yet able to live independently. The program will offer counseling, job skills and placement, life skills education, and assistance with college enrollment. Each resident will learn how to not just survive, but thrive…
Acres of Hope is a residential ministry to homeless single mothers, and their young children. We are a forever family to foster youth who have aged out of the system. We help by giving housing, counseling, food, and transportation for up to two years.
