The Walter S. Johnson Foundation assists transition-aged foster and other vulnerable youth in Northern California and Nevada to become successful adults. California College Pathways, currently in place at 31 colleges, universities, and technical schools in Orange County and the Bay Area, provides former foster youth with year-round housing, financial aid, counseling, and academic tutoring and support.
Transitional Youth Success (TYS) will help youth design a plan and turn that plan into the reality they want it to be. The plan may change as they go through the program. Within the three-month program ten participants will receive daily healing modalities and therapies to treat trauma, strengthen immune and neurological systems, as well as fortify self-esteem and the corporeal. By completion, the participants will have also earned a David Elliott Breathwork teaching certificate. This will enable them to continue the healing process in the community.
WEDO CCAV is a program dedicated to providing a network of support to Transitional Age Youth (young adults ages 16-25 years) and justice involved adults in order to ensure they have the tools they need to be successful and thrive independently.
Wonder is a mentoring program matching children living in foster care, one-to-one, with caring, consistent adults. The mentors are trained to listen, support, and guide each child through fun, age-appropriate experiences in music, the arts, sports, volunteer service, dining out, and nature. The Center has launched the Successful Transitions© initiative in an effort to help youth as they transition into adulthood. This unique service is not provided anywhere else in the region and primarily works with youth – starting at 15 years old – who are struggling with behavioral health challenges, learning differences, developmental disabilities, and/or a history of trauma.

This highly successful resource provides former foster youth with a partial financial scholarship along with mentoring support to assist them in adapting to and excelling in a higher education setting.
