A resource guide for youth in northeast Kansas, this book describes benefits, services, and opportunities for young people aging out of foster care. The guide also details how to open a bank account, how to apply for a job, how to get an apartment, etc.
When young adults age out of foster care, they lose all resources and support they had, leaving them to fend for themselves. Many lack the support, skills, and knowledge needed to transition into adulthood safely and successfully. David & Margaret is one of the leading regional providers of services and programs for young adults transitioning out of foster care and into independent living.
Youth will complete a formal interview for a position at the coffee shop, which will also prepare them for future job opportunities. Once hired, they will enter begin a 9-month program where they will set personal and professional goals. They will meet with management, case workers and mentors throughout their employment to ensure they are reaching their goals.

Excellerate is an Educational Life Skills Program that Serves Teenage Foster Care Children. Excellerate provides these young people a chance at a great life through mentoring, instruction and empowerment.
Along with housing some of the many resources another journey inc. would like to offer to include job skills support, connections to educational opportunities, discipleship, life skills classes, and faith-based mentoring.
Our Transitional Living Program was launched the summer of 2017 by our partnership with Monroe Harding, a local foster agency, hosting a camp/retreat for those youth preparing to age of our DCS custody and those currently in EFC (Extension of Foster Care).

Trinity House is a group home for young men ages 14-21 with a focus on teaching and enhancing independent living skills and fostering resilience.
Impact Living Services (ILS) provides comprehensive supportive services for foster youth 17-21 years of age. ILS has apartments in Lynchburg, Roanoke, and Harrisonburg. ILS promotes interdependence as a core belief in helping youth achieve their educational, vocational and financial goals. Interdependence is an idea of “mutual dependence between things” (i.e., community, friends, staff, DSS and counselors).
