Anchor House Shelter was founded in 1978 to move homeless and runaway youth off the streets of Trenton and reunite them with their family. Today, Anchor House Inc. provides shelter, school outreach, transitional and supportive housing, and street outreach to youth, ages 12 to 21 years of age, from Mercer County and throughout the state of New Jersey.
The Roots & Wings FLY program was added in 2010 to meet the needs of young adults who had aged out of the foster care system and are living in Morris County and surrounding communities but did not qualify for or transitioned from the residential program. The Roots & Wings RISE program includes apartments in Morris and Union County, housing a total of 18 clients. The goal of the program is to meet any immediate needs clients have regarding housing, food and medical care, while working with them on a longer-term basis to create and execute a plan for becoming self-sufficient.
We provide a one-to-one mentor to youth ages 14-24 to help them receive all the services they are entitled. These services include housing, food, clothing, education, job placement, transportation, healthcare and more.
