Anchor House Shelter was founded in 1978 to move homeless and runaway youth off the streets of Trenton and reunite them with their family. Today, Anchor House Inc. provides shelter, school outreach, transitional and supportive housing, and street outreach to youth, ages 12 to 21 years of age, from Mercer County and throughout the state of New Jersey.

The Roots & Wings RISE program includes apartments in Morris and Union County, housing a total of 18 clients. The goal of the program is to meet any immediate needs clients have regarding housing, food and medical care, while working with them on a longer-term basis to create and execute a plan for becoming self-sufficient.
Roots & Wings provides young adults who age out of the foster care system in New Jersey with safe housing, educational support, counseling, and life skills in order to empower them toward self-sufficiency.
We provide a one-to-one mentor to youth ages 14-24 to help them receive all the services they are entitled. These services include housing, food, clothing, education, job placement, transportation, healthcare and more. First Star partners with child welfare agencies and universities across the country to establish college-prep programs exclusively for high school foster youth, which include multiple residential immersion opportunities on university campuses.
We are nonprofit organization that provides marketable life skills through media education and service leadership. Programs are open to all youth including older teens preparing to transition from the foster care system.
