Teen Focus Permanency Specialists work with youth and young adults to establish legal or relational permanency, or meaningful connections with others. The goal is to have at least one adult connection in the community that they can call upon, a person who knows them and cares about them and their success.

In Ohio, county public children services agencies are required to provide independent living services to all youth ages 14 and older who are in foster care, to help prepare them for future self-sufficiency. Iowa Homeless Youth Centers’ Rooftop Gardens program will serve transition-age youth who are at-risk or currently experiencing homelessness, providing employment opportunities, access to healthy locally grown foods and nutrition education.
For our Residential Living Program the three indicators of success for each young woman leaving our care are: securing an individual mentor who will maintain the relationship after discharge, obtaining a driver’s license, and employment eligibility and the ability to enroll in college or vocational courses.
