Fair Futures is a coalition of child welfare agencies, non-profits, foundations, advocates and young adults working to ensure we fulfill our promise to New York City’s foster youth. Pockets Change is changing the way finance is taught through hip hop pedagogy. Many youths in the community are struggling to make the transition to young adulthood, but they do not need emergency shelter services. The Transitional Services Program is available to youth ages 16 to 21 years old to help them learn the skills necessary to become strong, independent young adults.

This study provides a better understanding of the housing trajectories of young adults who exit foster care and residential programs for homeless young adults, including emergency shelters and transitional living programs. Using administrative data to follow a cohort of young adults, this study documents which housing resources are used by youth and assesses which youth may be suited for supportive housing or other specific housing resources.
